Our third FLO night was great!
There was a feast of fruit and veggies, fit for a king (or Daniel).
Pat started our lesson for the evening with a reading from 2 Samuel 13.
These scriptures tell us about Tamar who was the sister of Absalom. Her half brother Amnon was in love with her. He was convinced he should deceive her to come into his room and prepare food for him, and feed him with her hands. While she was doing as he had asked, thinking he was ill, he grabbed her and raped her. After he had done such a terrible thing to Tamar he had her thrown out of his home and said he hated her now more than he had ever loved her. The last thing we hear about Tamar is that she lived as a desolate woman in Absalom's house.
What a story.
Many of us have been hurt in different ways. By men, by women, by family, by life.
Pat continued to encourage us to get it out so that we can get all that God has for us. To live life fully in Christ, all hurt has to be laid at the foot of the cross. All the hurt. You can't keep any of it for yourself if you want to move forward.
God loves us all! Remember, we are more precious than rubies! (Proverbs 3:15)
Next month (May) is our last FLO until Fall. I can't wait to hear the next chapter in this series of lessons.
